INTO University Partnerships Strengthens Global Education Pathways Through Innovation and Partnership

INTO University Partnerships continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting higher education institutions and international students, even in a challenging global recruitment climate. By developing innovative programmes and expanding pathways to world-class universities, INTO ensures that students can access transformative educational experiences while partners benefit from enhanced student recruitment and engagement.

New International Year One Programmes in Computer Science in the UK
INTO has launched new International Year One (IYO) programmes in Computer Science at Newcastle University, City, University of London (St. George’s), and the University of Exeter International Study Centres. These programmes are designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies in one of the world’s fastest-growing fields.

Equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree, IYO enables students to progress and complete their degree in the same time frame as domestic students, saving both time and money, while benefiting from smaller class sizes, personalised academic support, and teaching that aligns closely with the first-year university curriculum.

At Newcastle University, students can specialise in Game Engineering, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, or general Computer Science, gaining access to Newcastle’s Computing Employability Online Hub. City St George’s University of London offers students a blend of academic study and direct access to London’s thriving technology, finance, and science sectors, with opportunities for placements and co-teaching alongside Year 1 university students. University of Exeter provides pathways in Computer Science and Data Science, emphasising research-led teaching and strong industry links.

“These programmes equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel and provide an unparalleled transition to the UK university system, setting them on the way to their dream careers,” said Clare McKeague, Centre Director at Newcastle University International Study Centre.

Expanding Opportunities for Transfer Students in the US
In parallel, INTO is supporting Oregon State University’s new International Direct Transfer (IDT) programme. The IDT programme allows international students to begin their studies in intensive English and preparatory coursework before transferring directly into OSU degree programmes. INTO OSU works closely with the university to manage local operational arrangements and support student transitions, reflecting a strong model of collaborative partnership.

“By launching initiatives like the International Direct Transfer programme, we continue to support our partners in expanding access for international students, even in a complex recruitment environment,” said Sharon Sundue, Executive Vice President, INTO North America.

Driving Innovation in Challenging Times
These initiatives highlight INTO's dedication to innovation and responsiveness in higher education. By introducing new programmes, expanding transfer pathways, and linking students with industry-relevant skills and employability resources, INTO enables universities to maintain robust recruitment pipelines while delivering high-quality, globally recognized education.

Through these efforts, INTO is not only opening doors for international students but also reinforcing its role as a trusted partner to universities worldwide, demonstrating that progress and innovation continue, even in challenging market conditions.
