INTO Lancaster University holds opening ceremony and welcomes first cohort of students

INTO Lancaster University has officially opened its doors to students, where INTO will deliver a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate pathway programs to Lancaster University’s growing international student community

(LANCASTER): On Friday, 19 January, INTO Lancaster University held its official opening event, after welcoming the first cohort of international students the previous week. 

The launch ceremony, held at INTO Lancaster University was attended by Lancaster University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Andy Schofield, INTO’s Non-Executive Chair, Professor, Sir David Eastwood, John Sykes, INTO’s CEO, and Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Global Operations, Bridget White. The senior representatives were also joined by over 100 INTO and Lancaster staff members, and INTO Lancaster University students.

Professor, Sir David Eastwood said: “Our focus will remain on creating a vibrant, successful international pathway centre in the heart of the university campus, and we look forward to working alongside the university to promote one of UK higher education’s crown jewels across the world.”

On the 18 January, over 50 members of staff from Lancaster University and INTO met for a celebratory dinner in honour of the new partnership, bringing together those who have made the collaboration possible ahead of the official launch event.

During the opening event, the education leaders held an Expertise Fair showcasing the newly launched centre, sharing their insights on student welfare, admissions and compliance, accompanied by colleagues from Lancaster’s International Student Recruitment team.

“In coming together with INTO, we have recognised that there is a similar organisation with values that we can relate to, particularly with regards to a shared vision of going far together in this mission to bring exceptional international education opportunities to students,” said Lancaster University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Andy Schofield.

Starting with the recent January 2024 intake, the partnership between INTO and Lancaster University will provide academic opportunities to ambitious students around the world hoping to study at a World Top 125 university.

The INTO Lancaster University Centre launch marks an exciting step for INTO and Lancaster’s partnership, wherein INTO will operate on-campus pathway programs for the University’s growing community of international students. Students can enroll in International Foundation, Pre-Master’s, and Academic English programs allowing progression to a range of subject areas at Lancaster University –  with many regarded as some of the world’s best – including Business, Engineering, Computer Science, and Law.

The pathway courses will be delivered to the most stringent of standards and will incorporate Lancaster’s commitment to delivering transformational education. In addition, they will infuse employability throughout the curriculum, preparing students for further study at the University. 

INTO will also extend Lancaster’s global reach by deploying its market-leading recruitment infrastructure comprising a worldwide network of locally based education agents supported by in-market INTO teams.
