Students leave Hofstra having the most in-demand skills for their chosen career paths through programs propelled by industry needs. With a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio, they work closely with accomplished faculty across fields while making professional connections. Unique learning opportunities include a cybersecurity training coding academy in partnership with Facebook at the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science, courses taught by Emmy Award-winning communications faculty at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication and access to entrepreneurs-in-residence at the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.

Located just outside of New York City, Hofstra students can take advantage of endless opportunities for internships and jobs. Outside of employment opportunities, New York City is an incredible international destination for entertainment on Broadway, tourist attractions like the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, amazing art museums like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and much more.

International students make up 6% of Hofstra’s student body, representing 80 nationalities.

The INTO Hofstra Center

INTO Hofstra University offers a support system to international students, helping them prepare not only for degree studies but career pursuits as well.

  • Students have access to Hofstra’ state-of-the-art facilities and a team ready to assist them in making the most of all the university has to offer.
  • 93% of INTO Hofstra Pathway students were eligible to progress to degree programs in 2019-2020, 94% of whom enrolled.

Programs

INTO offers students the option to apply for direct admission into Hofstra’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs, or for a Pathway program that prepares students to pursue a Hofstra degree.

Top-ranked degree programs and schools at Hofstra include the No. 33 best undergraduate engineering program (non-doctorate), according to U.S. News & World Report 2021, and the No. 89 best business school in the US, according to Bloomberg Businessweek 2019-2020.

INTO Hofstra Programs:

  • Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees: Students who meet academic and English requirements for their desired undergraduate and graduate degree programs can apply directly to the university program.
  • International Year One (IYO): Students can earn credits toward their degree even if they don’t meet academic and English requirements for their chosen undergraduate degree program.
  • Undergraduate Transfer Program: A customized program allowing students to transfer credits and apply them toward their degree.
  • Graduate Pathway: Provides a direct path to various degree programs, offering academic foundation, essential language skills, and GMAT/GRE test preparation.
  • Academic English: An intensive program offering students rapid progress in preparation for an academic degree.
  • INTO Online English for Academic Success: An intensive online program offering students rapid progress in preparation for an academic degree.

Career outcomes

  • 93% of graduating students are employed, attending or planning to attend graduate school, Class of 2018-2019.
  • 77% of students completed an internship before graduating, and many had two or more, Class of 2018-2019.
  • Hofstra’s Co-Op program with over 150 corporate partners allows engineering and computer science students to complete a six- to eight-month paid internship as part of their coursework with industry-leading companies in New York City or on Long Island.
  • A partnership with IBM Global University allows Hofstra to offer training and certification for in-demand digital skills like AI, Blockchain and decision sciences.
  • Hofstra is one of nine universities to collaborate with Facebook on a free, 12-week cybersecurity training coding academy, offering scholarships to top students to attend conferences like the annual Facebook Developer Conference in Silicon Valley.
