It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as she is laid to rest today.

She leaves behind an enduring legacy of a lifetime of service to her country. As the constant, devoted figurehead for the United Kingdom for 70 years, she became much-loved and respected worldwide.

On this sombre occasion, we remember Her Majesty’s unwavering advocacy and support for the far-reaching, positive impacts of education. She believed in the role universities play in building a global society, bringing cultures together and driving human progress, demonstrated in her patronage of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

In her lifetime, she remained dedicated in her support of institutions of learning and advancement, encouraging and inspiring UK’s higher education institutions to reach the farthest corners of the world and nurture global talent and connections.

We join students and staff at our partner universities in the UK, as well as the many others here at home and around the world who have felt the lasting benefits of her leadership, in mourning this great loss and celebrating Her Majesty’s memory. She will be dearly missed.

Our thoughts remain with the Royal family on this day.
