Case Study: University of East Anglia

INTO University of East Anglia is proof of the power of carefully designed public-private partnerships to transform higher education.

INTO UEA is a joint venture partnership between the University of East Anglia and INTO University Partnerships.

It was established in 2006 to support the internationalization goals of the university, to increase the number of high-quality international students, to broaden its global presence and to invest in world class facilities. An integral part of the university, INTO UEA delivers programs which prepare international students for long term success.

International enrollment

The partnership, located in a purpose-built building in the heart of the UEA campus in Norwich, combines the academic reputation of one of the world’s leading universities with the reach and resources of the private sector.

Since inception, the university has grown international undergraduate student enrolments faster than the UK average. More than 3,700 international students have progressed from INTO UEA academic programs (excluding English courses) to further study at the university.

Student success

In 2009/10, the partnership launched the Newton A-level programme for gifted and talented students across the world, and in 2014 it launched the world’s first massive open online course (MOOC) for international students.

The first 10 highly successful years of operation and partnership culminated in INTO UEA winning the Queen's Award for Enterprise (International Trade) — the United Kingdom's highest honour for any business — in 2016.
