Allowing their students to follow their own unique path to graduation, the University of Stirling believes in choice, so flexibility is built into its curriculum. Offering 220+ degree combinations with a modular approach, students can tailor their undergraduate degree to their interests and passions – all with their future career in mind.

The University of Stirling is a top 40 university in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2019) with a 5-star excellence for teaching, employability, internationalisation, facilities and inclusiveness (QS World University Rankings 2018). Ranked 1st in Scotland for welcoming

international students (International Student Barometer 2016), overseas students are an important part of the University’s community – making up a fifth of the total number.

With almost three-quarters of the University’s research rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (Research Excellence Framework 2014), the University of Stirling makes a vital contribution to life in Scotland and around the world.

Overview of the INTO Centre

  • 1000+ students have progressed to the University of Stirling since the INTO partnership began in 2014.
  • The contemporary INTO Centre in the heart of campus opened in 2017 – the Centre was previously situated in the Airthrey Castle.
  • There are 44 members of staff in the Centre.
  • There are 149 students of 34 different nationalities learning at the INTO Centre in the 2018–19 academic year.
  • In the 2016–17 academic year, 93% of INTO Stirling students passed their pathway programme and 91% of which were eligible to progress to the University of Stirling.
  • In the 2017–18 academic year, 19% of INTO Stirling students who successfully completed their pathway programme achieved a distinction (70% or higher), 55% received a merit (60%–69%) and 26% received a pass (40%–59%).
  • The INTO Centre has received 98% overall student satisfaction and 98% student satisfaction with student services (INTO Annual Student Experience Survey 2018).

The first-rate facilities include:

  • modern facilities for up to 400 students

  • Learning Resource Centre
  • comfortable break-out areas
  • free Wi-Fi throughout
  • dedicated services offering 24/7 support
  • INTO café and restaurant

Students studying on the Centre's university preparation courses can live on campus in en suite accommodation. Students receive a safe and comfortable living space and are part of a flat of up to nine other bedrooms. Postgraduate students are often placed off campus in flats of up to seven students, situated halfway between campus and the city centre.

5 Programs

The programmes at INTO Stirling have been developed to meet the University of Stirling’s strategic objectives. The programmes are developed with, and validated by, the University. As well as the academic programmes listed below, INTO Stirling also offers Academic English and Pre-sessional English courses to improve students’ language skills.

 International Foundation

  • Pathways available in: Business, Finance, Economics and Marketing; Media, Humanities and Social Sciences; Science, Computing and Engineering; Science, Sport, Computing and Engineering.
  • Programmes typically last for 2–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to the second year of a four year undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling or one of INTO Stirling’s other affiliate partner universities in Scotland.

 Undergraduate Degree with International Year One

  • Combines English language and academic preparation with an undergraduate degree in a single study plan. Students can choose from 41 undergraduate degrees.
  • Subject areas include: Business; Economics; Finance; Humanities; Marketing; Media; Science; Social Sciences; Sport.
  • Students develop an understanding of academic subjects related to their degree as they improve their English language skills.
  • On successful completion of the preparation year, students will progress to the second year of their four year undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling.

 Undergraduate Degree with International Year Two

  • Combines English language and academic preparation with an undergraduate degree in a single study plan. Students can choose from 10 undergraduate degrees.
  • Subject areas include: Business; Finance; Marketing; Media; Social Sciences.
  • Students develop an understanding of academic subjects related to their degree as they improve their English language skills.
  • On successful completion of the preparation year, students will progress to the third year of their four year undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling.

 Graduate Diploma

  • Pathways available in: Business, Finance and Sport; Media, Humanities and Social Sciences; Science, Computing and Engineering.
  • Programmes typically last for 3 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a postgraduate degree at the University of Stirling or one of INTO Stirling’s other affiliate partner universities in Scotland.

 Postgraduate Degree with Graduate Diploma

  • Combines English language and academic preparation with a postgraduate degree in a single study plan. Students can choose from 20 postgraduate degrees.
  • Subject areas include: Business; Computing; Finance; Humanities; Media; Social Sciences; Sport.
  • Students develop an understanding of academic subjects related to their degree as they improve their English language skills.
  • On successful completion of the preparation year, students will progress to their postgraduate at the University of Stirling.

 Pre-Master’s

  • Two terms (6 months) of intensive preparation for postgraduate study that improves English language skills and helps to develop research and study skills.
  • During this course, students undertake a research project to enhance their understanding of research methodologies and further their ability to collect and analyse statistical data.
