Home to world-class research and renowned academics, the University of Exeter is known for its high levels of student satisfaction. Part of the Russell Group – one of the UK’s 24 elite research-intensive universities – it’s ranked 12th in the UK (The Times and the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019) and among the top 150 universities worldwide (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016–2019).

The University of Exeter has been awarded TEF Gold for teaching quality (Teaching Excellence Framework 2017). The academic staff here don’t just teach, they also carry out research – 98% of which is rated of ‘international quality’ (Research Excellence Framework 2014). Overview of the INTO centre

  • 7,800+ INTO Exeter graduates have progressed to study at the University of Exeter from academic pathways and English courses since the INTO Centre opened in 2007.
  • At the end of its second year in operation, all student recruitment and financial performance targets were exceeded, with a £1 million surplus.
  • There are 135 members of staff in the Centre.
  • There are 572 students of 56 different nationalities learning at the INTO Centre in the 2018–19 academic year.
  • In the 2016–17 academic year, 97% of INTO Exeter students passed their pathway programme and 75% of which were eligible to progress to the University of Exeter.
  • In the 2017–18 academic year, 44% of INTO Exeter students who successfully completed their pathway programme achieved a distinction (70% or higher), 39% received a merit (60%–69%) and 17% received a pass (40%–59%).
  • The INTO Centre has received 95% student satisfaction for support (INTO Annual Student Experience Survey 2018).

The first-rate facilities include:

Students studying on the Centre's university preparation courses have a choice of living options, including student residences on the University campus just 15 minutes from the INTO Centre, and homestay accommodation with carefully selected hosts.

If staying on campus, students can choose from three different room types: Twin Studio, Single Studio or Single En Suite. Each room offers a comfortable and safe living space with an en suite or shared bathroom and a private or shared kitchen. There are five dedicated accommodation blocks for INTO students, providing more than 500 study bedrooms.

5 Programs

Programmes at INTO Exeter have been tailored to fit the University's strategic objectives. The programmes are developed with and validated by the University. As well as the academic programmes listed below, INTO Exeter also offers Academic English, General English, Study Abroad with English and Pre-sessional English courses to improve students’ language skills.

International Foundation

  • Pathways available in: Accounting and Finance; Biomedical, Life and Environmental Sciences; Economics, Finance and Management; Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science and Physical Sciences; Humanities, Law and Social Science.
  • Programmes typically last for 2–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at the University of Exeter.

International Year One

  • Pathways available in: Accounting and Finance; Engineering; Management and Business Economics; Mathematics with Accounting, Economics, Finance or Management; Psychology.
  • Programmes typically last for 3 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at the University of Exeter.

Graduate Diploma

  • Pathways available in: Finance; Management.
  • Programmes typically last for 3–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of postgraduate degrees at the University of Exeter.
