At UEA, international students are an important part of the community. Since the INTO partnership was established in 2006, the University has grown international enrolments at three times the UK average. There are now more than 3,500 international students from over 100 countries at the University, making the campus a truly global community.

The University of East Anglia offers students the potential to reach their academic ambitions. Part of the esteemed Norwich Research Park – one of Europe’s biggest concentrations of research in the fields of environment, health and plant science – UEA is ranked 10th in the UK for quality of research (Research Excellence Framework 2014).

Overview of the INTO centre

  • 3,200+ students have progressed to the University of East Anglia from academic programmes (excluding English courses) since the INTO partnership began in 2006.
  • Increase of more than £37.5 million in tuition revenue for the University of East Anglia over the first six years.
  • There are 158 members of staff in the Centre.
  • There are 433 students of 41 different nationalities learning at the INTO Centre in the 2018–19 academic year.
  • In the 2016–17 academic year, 94% of INTO UEA students passed their pathway programme and 87% of which were eligible to progress to UEA.
  • In the 2017–18 academic year, 26% of INTO UEA students who successfully completed their pathway programme achieved a distinction (70% or higher), 43% received a merit (60%–69%) and 31% received a pass (40%–59%).
  • INTO UEA is a certified examination centre for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
  • The INTO Centre has received 98% student satisfaction for feeling safe and secure and 94% student satisfaction for support (INTO Annual Student Experience Survey 2018).

The first-rate facilities include:

  • £38 million state-of-the-art living and learning INTO Centre on the University of East Anglia campus, which opened its doors in 2008.
  • The building was designed to complement Sir Denys Lasdun's unique, award-winning ziggurat-inspired University buildings.
  • The sustainable and entirely modern building provides a stimulating yet secure environment, enabling students to live, study and relax in a truly international setting.
  • The academic block is the heart of the INTO Centre, featuring a multi-purpose lecture theatre, state-of-the-art IT, science and language laboratories, a Learning Resource Centre and a restaurant.
  • There are tutorial and teaching classrooms as well as space for administration, student support services and reception. The classrooms in the Centre are flexible and designed for multi-purpose use, to respond to a variety of learning needs.
  • There are communal spaces throughout the Centre that can be used for breakout sessions, one-to-one tutorials or for students to simply relax and socialise in.

Students studying on the Centre's university preparation courses have a choice of living options, including student residences within the INTO Centre, and homestay accommodation with carefully selected hosts.

If choosing to stay on campus, the Centre houses 411 modern, furnished study bedrooms, each with its own en suite shower room. Every student living in the INTO residences has access to one of several fully equipped communal kitchens on each floor. Meal plans are available for the Centre's very own fully halal restaurant.

5 Programs

The programmes at INTO UEA have been developed with the needs of the University in mind, with a special focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects. All INTO University of East Anglia programmes are developed with, and validated by, the University.

As well as the academic programmes listed below, INTO UEA also offers Academic English, General English, Study Abroad with English and Pre-sessional English courses to improve students’ language skills.

International Foundation

  • Pathways available in: Business, Economics, Society and Culture; Humanities and Law; Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences; Pharmacy, Health and Life Sciences; Physical Sciences and Engineering.
  • Programmes typically last for 3–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at the University of East Anglia.

International Year One

  • Pathways available in: Business Management and Economics; International Development with Media; Psychology.
  • Programmes typically last for 3–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at the University of East Anglia.

International Graduate Diploma

  • Pathways available in: Business; Economics; Social Sciences.
  • Programmes typically last for 3–4 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of postgraduate degrees at the University of East Anglia.

Newton A-level Programme

  • A unique opportunity to study A-levels related to science, mathematics and economics on a top university campus – the only opportunity of its kind in the UK.
  • Designed for high-achieving UK and international students.
  • A-level pathways available in: Science and Medicine; Economics, Business and Actuarial Science; Engineering and Mathematics.
  • Programme typically lasts for 5–6 terms.
  • On successful completion, students can progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at their choice of university.
